Cozy Cat Drawstring Pouch

Materials

• Worsted weight (Category 4) acrylic yarn, approximately 100 yards (91 meters) in main color (MC), 20 yards (18 meters) in accent color (AC1), and small amounts in black and white for features.
• 4.0 mm (US G/6) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker
• Scissors
• Two 15mm safety eyes

Foundation

Body

Using MC yarn:

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sts) Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts) Rnd 3: 1 sc, inc around. (18 sts) Rnd 4: 2 sc, inc around. (24 sts) Rnd 5: 3 sc, inc around. (30 sts) Rnd 6: 4 sc, inc around. (36 sts) Rnd 7-14: Sc in each st around. (36 sts)

Fo and weave in ends.

Assembly / Finishing

1. Cat Face: On one side of the bag, approximately between Rnd 3 and 4, attach safety eyes about 4 sts apart. Using black yarn and a yarn needle, embroider a small nose and mouth below the eyes. For whiskers, embroider three lines on each side of the nose.
2. Drawstring Casing: Fold the top edge of the bag (Rnd 14) inwards by approximately 1 cm, creating a casing. Secure this fold with a whip stitch using MC yarn, leaving small gaps at each side for the drawstring to enter and exit.
3. Drawstring (Two-Tone):
   • Using MC, ch 40. Cut yarn, leaving a tail.
   • Using AC1, ch 40. Cut yarn, leaving a tail.
   • Hold both chains together and, using a yarn needle, thread them through the casing. Tie the ends of the chains together in a knot to form a loop.
4. Weave in all remaining ends.

• For a cleaner look, use the invisible join technique when fastening off at the end of rounds, particularly when changing colors.
