Baby Star Stitch Blanket

A soft, textured blanket featuring the star stitch, perfect for a baby.

• Worsted weight (category 4) acrylic yarn, approximately 800 yards
• 5.0 mm (H-8 US) crochet hook

For subsequent stars in a row: Insert hook into the "eye" of the previous star, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into the side of the last leg of the previous star, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into the same st as the last leg of the previous star, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop (6 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 6 loops, ch 1.

Assembly / Finishing

Fasten off and weave in all ends securely using a tapestry needle. Block the blanket gently if desired to even out stitches and shape.

Tips

• To ensure your blanket comes out to the intended size, always crochet a gauge swatch. The stitch counts are mathematically verified, but fit is not guaranteed without meeting the stated gauge.
• Place a stitch marker in the top of your turning chain to easily identify where to place your last stitch on subsequent rows.
• The Star Stitch can be a yarn eater. Make sure you have enough yarn!
