Assembly / Finishing
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle and weave through the front loop of the remaining 6 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole. Weave in the end securely.
To create the donut hole: Thread a yarn needle with a new piece of main donut color yarn (about 12 inches long). Insert the needle through the center of the donut and out through the other side. Pull tight to indent the center, creating the donut hole. Repeat this a few times, pulling firmly, then secure the ends together with a knot and weave them into the donut.
For sprinkles (optional): Using small amounts of contrasting yarn, embroider small straight stitches onto the "icing" section of the donut to create sprinkles. Weave in all ends.
Tips
- Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round, especially in continuous rounds.
- Stuff your donut firmly to give it a nice, plump shape.
- When changing colors, make the last yarn over of the previous stitch with the new color to create a seamless transition.
- Make a gauge swatch to ensure your finished donut size matches your expectations.
