Assembly / Finishing
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle. Weave the tail through the top of the stitches from the last round, going in and out of every other stitch. Pull tight to close the top of the hat. Secure with a few extra stitches and weave in the remaining end. Weave in the starting tail from the foundation chain.
Tips
- To check your gauge, crochet a swatch that is at least 15 cm by 15 cm. If your swatch is too small, use a larger hook. If your swatch is too large, use a smaller hook.
- Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round, moving it up as you complete each round.
- For a slouchier hat, add more rounds to the body before fastening off. For a fitted hat, fewer rounds may be desired.
